Update Links to Corporations
If data affecting Schedule 9, Related and Associated Corporations Workchart (Jump Code: 9 WORKCHART) is modified in one of the returns from the linked or associated corporate group after data import, you can update the data for all returns without repeating the import procedure.
To import data from the linked or associated corporate group once more in the active client file, proceed as follows for each linked client file:
- On the Tools menu, click Update Links to Corporations.
The Update Links to Corporations Wizard is displayed. Click Next to begin. - Read carefully the wizard’s instructions.
During the operation, if the wizard detects that links to client files are invalid, it will prompt you to correct them to allow to calculate the impact of the scenario. - Select the data to import, and click Next to continue.
The allocation amounts are not imported during this operation in order to avoid accidental overrides of the optimal allocation. - To close the wizard and apply the update, click Finish.
Diagnostics are issued when differences between allocations contained in linked client files and those contained in the active return are detected. These diagnostics can be viewed from the diagnostics pane under the T2 Data Connection tab.
Tip: After importing data for each of the client files in the group of related or associated corporations, click Recalculate on the Tools menu to refresh the diagnostics related to the T2 Data Connection. Note that the source client files for each of the linked corporations are used to validate the values in the active client file and to display these diagnostics.

The import command imports all of the information from the R&A workchart in the source file; including any links established to returns in the group as well as any relevant allocations that are in the R&A workchart.
The Update Link to Corporations uses the links established to access each source file and check that the information in the current R&A workchart reflects the most recent version of the source return. Any differences will be displayed in the list of data to be imported.
